Would this make me lose weight?
Okay so my usual diet is very bad.
I cook one small pancake for breakfast and put a tiny bit of sugar and lemon juice on it. I don't usually eat the whole thing unfortunately.
For recess (Yes I'm still in school) I eat biscuits, cake, muffins things like that. It's nice but not ideal or healthy.
For lunch if I eat anything at all it's a sandwich with cheese and chicken in it, the bread is wholegrain.
Then I snack on bad foods, like muffins, biscuits etc.
For dinner its sort of the meat and three veg thing then a bowl of iced cream and chocolate topping for desert.
I barely ever exercise either.
It's not that I over-eat, though I could stand to eat a little less it's more that I eat the wrong types of food. I've been told if I make small changes to my diet and exercise lifestyle I can lose weight. (I need to)
I've decided to
- Instead of having that disgusting pancake to have a bowl of oats.
- To replace the muffins, biscuits etc that I usually have for recess with nuts (unsalted), low-fat yogurt (small lunch-box size tubs) and fruit, maybe a banana or some grapes depending on what there is at home)
- To replace normal sandwich for lunch with leftovers from the last night's tea that could be pasta, rice, veggies (especially roasted ones, chickens, curry, cold roasted meats such as lamb and beef, fruit salad etc. I can eat it most things cold but I'm sure my home ed teacher will let me eat it up in the home ec room's microwaves if I ask nicely enough.
For snacks after a school I can have sultanas and dried apricots. But I'd like to just not snack at all.
Dinner can remains as normal, the dinners my mother cooks are pretty healthy, although I'd love to try new recipes from lots of different cultures. And I thought I could just skip desert altogether, it'd save my Mum in fortnightly costs of ice-cream and topping.
Well I said I never exercise, which is true. So I've decided to make the following changes to my life-style
- I'm going to do two aerobic exercise DVDs/videos a day (Wake up very early each morning to do one and do the other when I get home from school.
- Walk to and from school each day (That's about 2 kilometres of walking altogether)
So 2 aerobic exercise DVDs and 2 km of walking per day as well as those changes to my diet.
My question is what will this do to my health and will I lose any weight? I'm getting overweight and I need to correct it.
ha, never read someone answer their own question so well! what you are doing (or are going to do) will work the best. that's what a diet is all about…no fads or no this and that, just decent food, decent proportions and exercise.
how much do u weigh now and how much do u want to lose?

You should make a time a day when you eat, because your stomach won't get used if you eat whenever you want

I would say watch your calories intake and stay away from fried food. And also exercise. Most diet recommend to eat 3 times a day that way you don't over eat at one time.

Yes, it will definitely make you lose weight and sounds a very healthy diet but the exercise is waaaaaay too excessive, especially as you don't exercise at all right now.
Why don't you start with just the walking… it's one of the best forms of cardio and a good/gentle way of getting healthy. If you feel up to it you could then do the exercise video say twice a week.
Also, remember to allow yourself some 'treats' otherwise you will start to feel deprived.

Ok good change with what you eat firstly, but dont eat your food cold, warm it up, its healthier. Having ice-cream is ok but not everyday, like once in a while like maybe after every 3-4 days. Don't wake up early though just to excercise unless you want to. If you think you'll be fresh and ready to excercise in the morning then go ahead. Alternatively just do one when you come home from school and do another one after like a few hours but not after dinner. Maybe do all your homework or any work you have to do once you've finished the first dvd then do the 2nd one later. It shouldn't do any damage to your health apart from eating the cold food part, but make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep. Most improtantly though, you can't expect to lose weight within like one week, it will take time.

Don't eat so less! At least for breakfast eat 1 slice of toast with butter or it can be plain and half a cup of milk, for lunch, eat a sandwich with lettuce, tomato(if you like it),a bit of cheese(99%fat free) and put any vegetables you like and have a sandwich cut in half. just eat one of the half. and finally for dinner, eat something about medium size(just have half of the stuff). You can do an hour of aerobic exercise and 1 hour of walking after dinner. Get enough sleep and try the tips i have given you!

Yes that sounds fine. BUT! You say that you snack often, so I would advise you to eat lots of protein in your diet. Why you ask? Well, protein helps to fill you up and keeps you fuller for longer. The oats for your breakfast sound fantastic and will give you lots of energy to keep you going through the day. Nuts are high in fat and calories, however they can be good for you and contain good fats. I suggest you eat a 20g serving of sunflower seeds for your break as these seeds have much less fat and calories than most nuts and seeds do. They are still very healthy though. For your dinner, I suggest a sandwhich/wrap instead as you can fill them with low fat chicken and fill them with your 5 a day. Also, your tea will be fine, but stay away from creamy curry! They are super high in fat and calories, a creamy curry can contain as much as 900 calories!
this took me ages calculating all of the figure etc, I tierd now.
Exercising your way would burn 1600 calories a day, so altogether you would lose 2 lbs every week.
Again, the protein I was on about before, you will need low fat ones such as chicken, diet yoghurts are very good too. Also, ice lollys usually have no fat in them and are usually low in cals which is a good treat! Try to eat at least 1200 cals everday for maximum weight loss.
Good luck
